About the Poet
Haikara's work represents a scathing critique of modern existence – from workplace drudgery and religious hypocrisy to the empty promises of materialism.

Joab Haikara is a modern-day prophet wandering through the spiritual desert of contemporary America. His raw, unfiltered prose cuts through societal facades to expose the hollow promise of what he terms the "Wet American Dream" – that dripping illusion of happiness through consumption and conformity.
Born to working-class parents in the Texas, Haikara spent his formative years observing the quiet desperation behind suburban smiles. After being kicked out of missionary school where he studied religion and philosophy, he embarked on a nomadic journey across continents, seeking truth beyond the confines of conventional wisdom.
The pivotal moment in Haikara's development as a writer came in 2016 during an ayahuasca ceremony in the mountains outside Medellín, Colombia. What he describes as "the fire inside his heart flaring out his fingers" gave birth to his distinctive voice – one that bridges brutal honesty with philosophical insight.
The Philosophy
Haikara's work represents a scathing critique of modern existence – from workplace drudgery and religious hypocrisy to the empty promises of materialism. His writing attacks the numbing comfort of routine and challenges readers to confront the existential void they attempt to fill with consumption, status-seeking, and digital distraction.
Like his spiritual predecessor Jeremiah, Haikara serves as both prophet and critic, calling out the false idols of contemporary society while pointing toward authentic existence. His philosophy might be summarized as radical honesty in the face of comfortable delusion.
"Most of us are caught in cycles we barely recognize," Haikara explains. "We need to quit dreaming, find the life jackets, and face reality with unflinching eyes."
The Work
Haikara's magnum opus, "Wet American Dream," represents his most comprehensive critique of modern American society. Through a series of interconnected essays blending poetry, philosophy, and raw polemic, he dismantles the pillars of conventional satisfaction – work, religion, consumerism, and relationships – while offering glimpses of a more authentic alternative. "Wet American Dream" is infinite project, always growing, adjusted and maintained much like the toils of the American Dream.
Haikara's "Primary Questions" essays have become cornerstone philosophical works that define his worldview and future writings. In these meditations, he tackles existential dilemmas like "Is life worth living?" and "What is the meaning of life?" with unflinching directness. His controversial thesis that "God is your self at its highest potential speaking to its present self" has sparked both devotion and outrage in spiritual communities. Haikara's conception of love as "the certainty of reconciliation" rather than an emotion has reshaped how many readers approach relationships. Throughout these essays, he maintains that humans are "replicating toward perfection" – a process he sees as both biological imperative and spiritual journey – while arguing that terrible things happen not as divine punishment but as necessary catalysts for growth.
He is currently working on "The Pentateuch of the Philistines" and the forthcoming "In the future everything will be free and everyone bisexual," a collection of readings designed to awaken readers now before it's too late.

The Man
When not writing, Haikara lives simply in the mountains of Mexico, traipsing from bar to cigar lounge where finds it best to write while observing others. He sustains himself through his art, his work in strategic foresight, and the generosity of readers who value his uncompromising vision.
Joabble represents Haikara's digital campfire – a place where wanderers, questioners, and fellow travelers can gather to warm themselves by the uncomfortable heat of honest reflection.
